Inspired by mystical interpretations of the Alef-Bet, (see Rabbi Lawrence Kushner’s, The Book of Letters, A Mystical Alef-Bet), each acrylic painting is an abstracted Hebrew letter, which begins a word, reflected in the title of the piece. The colorful shapes become Spectromorphs. Often the outer contours of the Hebrew letters extend beyond the edges of the canvas, while the inner contours encapsulate the space. The emphasis is on subtle, tonal variations of color, rather than intense contrast. This is to inspire peace, harmony, and spiritual union. Many smaller Hebrew letters are painted with the letter itself being the theme. Wedding Blessing is painted for our friend’s wedding, with love expressed in Hebrew, Chinese, and English, in gold and red.
